David Cameron took PMQ’s for the final time today where he told MP’s that he would “miss the roar of the crowd”.

He then made a statement outside No 10 Downing Street flanked by his wife and children. David Cameron said he had “not got everything right” but that “our country is much stronger” than when he took over and that being Prime Minister was the “greatest honour” of his life. He also wished Theresa May well praising her “strong and stable leadership”.

He then went to Buckingham Palace to formally tender his resignation to the Queen. A statement from Buckingham Palace confirmed he had tendered his resignation as prime minister and the Queen was “graciously pleased” to accept.
