Thames Valley Police is appealing for information after a girl was sexually assaulted in Banbury.

At around 3.30pm on Monday (27/6) the victim, aged 16, was near Debenhams when she was approached by a man who engaged her in conversation. They then walked together through the alleyway between Bridge Street and Christchurch Street.

While in the alleyway the victim was sexually assaulted by the offender. Both the victim and offender then walked out of alleyway towards the bus station.

The offender is white, around 20 years old; slim to medium build, 5ft 8ins tall with short black hair. He was wearing a light grey jumper, light grey baggy bottoms and a snapback cap with a red peak.

Investigating officer, Det Sgt Mike West, of Force CID, said:

“I am appealing for witnesses who may have seen a man fitting the description or anyone acting suspiciously in the Banbury area around the time of the offences to come forward as soon as possible.”
