Last weekend was the 8th Brackley Festival of Motorcycling (BFoM) and organisers think it may have been their best year yet.

Around 20,000 people turned out last Sunday for the UK’s largest motorcycling festival of its kind. The festival celebrated everything to do with motorcycling with classic and modern bikes, races, stunt demonstrations, a massive motorcycle autojumble, a wall of death. Wilsons fun fair, live music from Liquid Insanity and Josie and the Outlaws.

BFoM treasurer Roger Charlesworth summed up the 2016 event as: “Hugely successful. Universally, people said it was the best show we’ve done. The best organised, and undoubtedly the best event of its kind in the country.

“Last year we had a big leap in the numbers attending, up to 18,000 and this year, judging by ticket sales and the number of cars and bikes in the car parks, there was close to 20,000 spectators.

Cllr Stephen Clarke from South Northamptonshire Coucil said: “Motorcyclists are travelling hundreds of miles for this event which has a strong and growing reputation, not only with bikers, but also local families enjoying a day out as well as motorcycling manufacturers and suppliers who pay for the chance to be at this land mark event.”

Last year the event raised £32,000 for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and several local causes. The 2016 fund raising total will be announced later in the year.
