Community spirit shown by regulars at the Dog and Gun Pub in Banbury

In July a regular at the Dog and Gun was attacked by three women while in the St Mary’s Churchyard in Banbury.

The victim, a 43-year-old man, is a passionate Burnley football fan and during the attack his Burnley football shirt was destroyed. He also sustained facial injuries, injury to his arm and his cash was stolen.

Unhappy with this situation, the locals from the Dog and Gun decided to look after their own and show great community spirit by holding a collection to see if they could raise enough money to buy him a new shirt.

They raised so much money that not only did they buy him a new Burnley shirt but also a signed framed one as well.

Georgina from the Dog and Gun said: “this may be a pub but we are a family and the community looks after their own.”

Last Monday (29/08) regulars at the pub gathered to present it to him.
