Man from Banbury arrested on suspicion of rape

Thames Valley Police has arrested a man in connection with a rape investigation in Banbury.

The arrest relates to an incident in which a woman, aged in her thirties, was raped inside a property in Horse Fair in the early hours of today.




 

The victim is being supported by specially-trained officers.

Detectives investigating the incident would like to appeal to a group of people who spoke to the victim, when she was sitting in Horse Fair, between 1am and 1.30am today.

They would also like to speak to a man who was walking with victim between the same timeframe in Horse Fair in the direction of Warwick Road.

This morning police had cordoned off an area near St Mary’s Church Banbury with police and forensics in attendance. The cordon has now been removed.

A 35-year-old man from Banbury was arrested on suspicion of rape and is currently in police custody.
