Bloxham Pre-School is based in the village of Bloxham, near Banbury in North Oxfordshire, and provides term-time care for 3 to 4 year olds during school hours. We aim to provide a rich, safe and stimulating environment for learning through play.
We promote the well-being of each unique child in our care. We believe in listening to children and taking their opinions into account.
We recognise the vital role of parents as partners in their childrens learning.
We offer a safe and enriching environment where each child can build on existing skills to develop to his or her full potential through the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum.
The six main areas of development and learning include:
Young children learn most effectively through play. We therefore offer a diverse choice of play experiences, both indoors in our charming purpose-built unit, and outdoors in our extensive garden.
Our excellent facilities and equipment include computers, an electronic whiteboard and an extensive range of educational indoor and outdoor toys.
There are opportunities for children to share in activities like numeracy games, role play, computer work, sharing books, mark making, painting, sticking, playing in sand and water and using construction toys.
Each child is assigned a keyperson who has particular responsibility for monitoring the progress of a small group of children.
We are a Partnership Foundation Stage Unit and we share our building with the Bloxham Primary School F1 class. We work within this strong, flourishing foundation stage partnership and as such we currently operate the same admissions criteria as the school.
The partnership between pre-school and primary school works extremely well. Our evidence of offering to take children through a continuous and integrated system from 3 years old up to primary school is that this is proving to be very settling for our children. We find that children are happy and confident in progressing seamlessly from one stage to another.
The Pre-School is a registered charity and is run by a committee of parent and guardian volunteers who are responsible for management and vital fund-raising activities to provide new equipment and resources.
